Why Budget for a Professional and Experienced Wedding Photographer

I often get a lot of brides wonder why professional wedding photographers charge so much and its often hard to explain why it is worth the money to invest in a professional wedding photographer.

Recently I have had a number of brides enquire about my prices and eventually decide to go with a cheaper photographer or a friend or family memember. But what upsets me the most is I have now received a couple of really sad emails from brides who decided to go for the cheaper option and write me a truly heartfelt message on how they wish they had realised how important it was to hire an experienced photographer.

The thing is there is a big price range when you look at booking a wedding photographer, you can have an inexperienced photographer offer the world, including many hours, lots of images and albums for a little price, with everything you can go with the cheaper option. But to put it bluntly you get what you pay for and its not always wise to put all your hopes that a cheaper amateur/ semi professional photographer will deliver the photos you dream of.

For example its a special anniversary with your partner and you want to go out for a special meal, something you will remember forver until you are old and grey, you could go to cafe for a meal, its cheap and they will give you a lot of food for your money and get a plate food full of fat and grease, bad service and maybe the waiter drops it on your lap and hate every mouthful, they aren't even al that bothered that they have ruined your meal

Or you could go to Ritz for a posh meal and enjoy every mouthful, the service is incredible and you are treated like a guest of honour, the meal tailored to you. Its the same with wedding photography, its quality over quantity and you'd definitely want the Jamie Oliver of photography with his years of experience doing your photos over the guy who hasn't had a bath for a week, working in the greasy spoon and who isn't really a chef, but just trying to make some extra cash on the side of his day job.

To be a good wedding photographer it takes many years of experience and I'm not saying you have to spend thousands for the top of the game wedding photographer, but when looking for a photographer, dont let someone offering the world win you over, look at the photographers portfolio and get won over by the images and the photographers skill at capturing weddings, not offers of albums and prints when you can buy these things at a later date if you can afford it at the time of your wedding.

Remember the wedding food will last a couple of hours, the cake two days, one day the bride wont fit into her dress anymore, but the photos are what will make your memories of your day stay alive for years and years to come.
