Laura & Matt's | Edwardian Wedding in an Abandoned Chapel - 7th June 2014

I was excited from the day Laura told me she was getting married in an abandoned chapel, I jumped at the chance at photographing in such a cool venue. Myself and Laura had never meet, but she had previously seen some photos I had taken at the amazing Horniman museum, where she works and had donated me a while ago to say she loved the photos and that i should apply for a job there as they needed a photographer. Although I didn't do the job, we stayed Facebook friends and there was a feeling that me and her would get on, lovers of the Victorian era, taxidermy and weirdness. When she contacted me about her wedding it wasnt long before we meet up and can you believe at a day event in Manchester called 'Encountering Corpses'. I don't think many wedding photographers can make claim to such a strange wedding meeting.

The days leading up to the wedding I was so excited, I am a huge fan of abandoned buildings and Laura was getting married in a real antique Edwardian wedding gown. Seeing her getting into it with her bridesmaids was an incredible feeing, like stepping back in time.

The Chapel Asylum wedding venue was just incredible, I am hugely jealous that I didn't get married there myself. Everything was so chilled and relaxed, classic wind up records were played and a meal was served up in the chapel and I sat with guests, enjoying food and drink and a huge buffet table full of the most amounts of dessert I have ever seen at a wedding. Laura had made real Victorian jellies from moulds, Victoria sponges, and swans made of meringue. Soon a band was playing and it was such a wonderful atmosphere. We carried on the party at Ivy House, where the band continued to play.

I loved Laura and Matts wedding and hope they have a wonderful life together.
